NBC, which aired Welcome To Sweden for two seasons, is developing an U.S. version of a Swedish comedy produced by the same company. Bonus Family, based on FLX’s upcoming Bonusfamiljen, comes from former House of Lies executive producer David Walpert, ABC Studios and studio-based Mandeville TV.
Written by Walpert, who will serve as showrunner, Bonus Family tells the story of Lisa and Patrick who experience the excitement and learning curve of a new relationship, as their exes, Martin and Katya, struggle to open themselves up to love again, all while facing the ever-present challenges of co-parenting their blended family. Walpert executive produces the project, which has a script commitment, with Mandeville’s David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman and Laurie Zaks.
This is the fourth sale for Mandeville TV this season. Bonus Family joins an untitled Marcia Clark project that landed a put pilot at NBC; The Exchange, a drama from British writer Nicholas Osborne, which has been set up at ABC, and Grace, a drama project with Black List scribes Eyal Podell and Jonathon E. Stewart, also set up at ABC.
Walpert, who’s coming off five seasons as executive producer on Showtime’s House of Lies, is repped by UTA and attorney Ken Richman. Mandeville TV is repped by UTA.
