Imax has inked a joint revenue share agreement with Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé, the biggest cinema chain operator in France, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The deal will add five new Imax theatres in France — one in Paris at La Villette Cinema and four more featuring Imax with Laser in locations to be determined. As part of the deal, Les Cinémas Gaumont Pathé will upgrade the Imax theater at its Gaumont Disney Village Cinema to a Laser system. It now has 12 Imax theaters in France, six in the Netherlands and four in Switzerland with the new deal, making it the second-largest Imax exhibitor in Western Europe.

Yesterday, Imax unveiled its first European virtual-reality entertainment center in Manchester, England. The Imax VR experience offers “immersive, multi-dimensional VR experiences, including entertainment content and games.”
