Less than a month after its third season debuted to record ratings on FXX, You’re the Worst today got the green light to bring more of its bad behavior and relationship woes back for a Season 4 next year.

“Expertly written, brilliantly acted, You’re the Worst continues to be hilarious and excellent,” Eric Schrier, co-President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions, said Wednesday of the Stephen Falk-created comedy. “We’re excited to get Stephen and his team working on next season and thank everyone at You’re the Worst for their outstanding work and the opportunity to keep producing great TV together.”

Season 4 of You’re The Worst is set to debut in 2017.

Starring Chris Geere as supremely self-involved writer Jimmy Shive-Overly and Aya Cash as self-sabotaging PR flack Gretchen Cutler, YTW examines the perils of modern L.A. romance when two ostensibly terrible people and others get together — and kind of make a go of it. The show debuted in late July 2014 on FX but moved over to FXX for its second season that started September 9. Season 3 premiered on August 31.

“It is a daily thrill to have You’re the Worst in the same network family as ArcherFargo, American Crime Story, The Americans, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Atlanta, Better Things, Louie, etc., and while I am currently deep in Post on Season 3 and so, so tired, you guys, I am overjoyed,” Falk said in a statement today. “That FX mysteriously manages to have a crystalline brand identity with such a wide variety of shows is a testament to the extreme talents of John, Eric, Nick, Chuck, John, Nick, Matt, Nicole, Kevin, Kate, Jonathan, Barbara, Stephanie and everyone else. I realize I don’t need to kiss their asses because they’ve already picked up the next season, but it is heartfelt,” the EP added.

You’re the Worst is produced by FX Productions.
