Michael Greyeyes, Sam Rockwell, Ciaran Hinds, Chaske Spencer and Bill Camp are joining the cast of Woman Walks Ahead. This is the Susanna White-directed indie based on the true story of Catherine Weldon, the widowed Brooklyn artist who in June 1889 travels to the Dakota Territory to paint a portrait of Sitting Bull, and soon becomes embroiled in the Lakota peoples’ struggle over the rights to their land. Jessica Chastain is playing Wheldon, and the pic from Steven Knight’s script is now shooting in New Mexico.
Black Bicycle Entertainment which is financing and producing alongside Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz’s Bedford Falls in association with Potboiler. Zwick and Herskovitz are producing with Black Bicycle’s Erika Olde, Rick Solomon and Potboiler’s Andrea Calderwood. Susan Kirr is executive producing.
CAA is handling domestic rights and IM Global has been selling international since Chastain boarded the project earlier this year ahead of the EFM in Berlin.
Greyeyes (The New World) is repped by Talentworks, The Artist Representation Company, and Mills Kaplan Entertainment. Rockwell (Moon) is repped by Gersh and Untitled Entertainment. Hinds (the upcoming Silence) is repped by CAA, and Spencer (Twilight Saga) by Abrams Artists Agency and Primary Wave Entertainment. Camp (Loving) is repped by Innovative Artists.
