‘Saturday Night Live’ Cast Additions: Alex Moffat, Melissa Villaseñor & Mikey Day

Saturday Night Live will be adding three new featured players for the upcoming season:  improv performer Alex Moffat and America’s Got Talent finalist Melissa Villaseñor, as well as Mikey Day, who has been a writer on the venerable NBC late-night sketch program since 2013. NBC made the announcement Monday morning.

The trio would be filling the void left from the recent exit of three SNL cast members, veterans Taran Killam and Jay Pharoah as well as freshman Jon Rudnitsky. Moffat, Villaseñor and Day will make their debut in the SNL season premiere on October 1.

Day was tested as a featured player this summer when he recurred on Maya & Marty, NBC’s primetime sketch comedy series from SNL honcho Lorne Michaels. Day also served as a head writer on that show. Moffat has been a featured performed at The Second City, Zanies, The Comedy Bar, and The Annoyance. He also wrote on and starred in a sketch comedy pilot for NBC and made his feature film debut in Uncle John. Impressionist, stand-up comedian and actor Villaseñor was a top 16 finalist on Season 6 of America’s Got Talent. She has lent her voice to Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and also has worked on Family Guy and Comedy Central’s Trip Tank.
