As the cinema world focuses on the start of the fall festival season, the Palm Springs International Film Festival today unveiled the dates for its 2017 edition. Presented by the Palm Springs International Film Society, the 28th annual desert gathering is set for January 2-16

The program includes 200-plus films from more than 60 countries and will feature a majority of the pics submitted for the Best Foreign Language Oscar race. The annual black-tie Film Awards Gala is set for January 2 at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Recipients will be named later. Last year’s PSIFF honored Cate Blanchett, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Michael Fassbender, Brie Larson, Rooney Mara, Tom McCarthy, Saoirse Ronan, Alicia Vikander and the cast of The Big Short.
