While we’re use to watching him as tortured young hacker battling with a dissociative identity disorder on USA’s Mr. Robot which is airing is season 2 finale tonight, in indie drama Buster’s Mal Heart, Rami Malek plays a different kind of guy on the fringe of society.  Buster is a mountain man who squats in empty homes, on the run from the authorities. But in another life, he was a loving, stable family guy known as Jonah. How did his world get thrown off balance? We begin to learn how his life turned, winding up on top of a snowy mountain or out to sea, or both. Director/writer Sarah Adina Smith along with Malek also expounds in the above video on her inspirations for the movie.  On Sunday, Malek broke the Emmy mold by taking home the lead actor drama trophy for USA’s Mr. Robot, an anomaly for the awards ceremony which rarely lauds first-time nominees on frosh shows. Buster’s Mal Heart recently played at the Toronto International Film Festival.
