Trevor Noah took over for TV news talking heads trashing Matt Lauer’s botched handling of NBC’s Commander-in-Chief forum.

The Daily Show host was the first to note kamikaze planes had crashed into the USS Intrepid, now docked in New York City and where the forum was held, and point out Lauer had continued that tradition with his moderating gig.

It being Lauer’s first crack at the Hillary Clinton email story so many other TV news reporters already had mined, the morning-show host devoted about a third of his 30 minutes with the Dem candidate to “digging through her inbox,” Noah said.

Having sucked up so much time on emails, when members of the military in the audience asked Clinton important national security questions, such as how she would determine when to deploy troops directly into harm’s way to combat ISIS, Lauer interrupted Clinton to instruct her to answer that one “as briefly as you can.”

“Are you sh**ting me!” Noah ranted of Lauer’s decision to turn important questions from veterans into “a speed date.”

But, if Lauer wasn’t good with the Clinton interview, he was really awful when handling Trump, letting him get away with “blatant lies.”

Which, Noah snarked, makes Lauer his idea of a perfect girlfriend:

“I would love to date Matt Lauer, because getting busted would be impossible.”

Media members who have dismissed Lauer as not being up to the task, being just a morning show host are full of horseradish, Comedy Central’s late-night star said.

“Matt Lauer can take tough questions to very powerful people,” he insisted, proving it with a clip.
