FX’s limited series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story led all programs with five wins at the 68th annual Primetime Emmy Awards tonight, followed by HBO’s Game of Thrones with three. But including last weekend’s Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies, the swords and dragons drama is the big winner with 12 trophies this year, with the Trial of the Century limited series in second place with nine total. Fox’s musical Grease: Live was next with five total Emmys, four of which it snagged last week.
On the network side, HBO was the big winner as usual, leading the pack with 22 Emmys including six for Primetime. FX was next with 18, also scooping a co-leading six Sunday. Netflix was third with nine total and three Sunday, followed by PBS with eight total and Amazon, Fox and NBC with a half-dozen apiece.
