Bill Pullman is set as the male lead opposite Jessica Biel in USA Network’s crime drama pilot The Sinner.

Created and written by Derek Simonds based on Petra Hammesfahr’s book and executive produced by Biel, The Sinner focuses on Cora Tanner (Biel), a young mother who, overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling and very public act of violence — and to her horror has no idea why. Pullman will play Harry Ambrose, a sensitive, dogged detective who finds himself disturbed and uniquely fascinated by Cora. Convinced that the bare facts of the case conceal something considerably more significant, Ambrose starts to investigate Cora’s life.

The pilot is also executive produced by Biel’s producing partner Michelle Purple through their company Iron Ocean Films and Charlie Gogolak. Antonio Campos will direct the pilot and also serve as an executive producer. Universal Cable Productions is the studio.

Pullman was most recently reprised his Independence Day role in the summer sequel Independence Day: Resurgence and was seen in Brother Nature, co-written by and starring Taran Killam. Upcoming projects are LBJ with Woody Harrelson, Battle of the Sexes and Trouble. He is shooting The Ballad of Lefty Brown with Tommy Flanagan and Peter Fonda. Pullman is repped by ICM Partners and Anonymous Content.
