Writer-director-producer Ben Younger is set to follow up his boxing biopic Bleed for This with Isle of Man for De Luca Productions. Michel Litvak, Gary Michael Walters and Michael De Luca are producing and Bold Films is funding the film, details of which are under wraps. The deal was announced tonight at the Toronto Film Festival.
Isle of Man is set to start production in March. Johnny Pariseau will oversee the project for De Luca Productions, with Jon Oakes overseeing for Bold Films.
“Ben Younger is a brilliant, young director and I’m thrilled to support the next phase of his career,” said Litvak. Added Walters, “Isle of Man is a muscular action film wrapped around a great character journey that exemplifies the Bold brand.”
Younger’s Bleed for This premiered at Telluride and also is screening at TIFF ahead of its November 4 limited release via Open Road Films. It’s the story of Vinny Pazienza, who was on top of the boxing world after winning the junior middleweight title in 1991. A month later, a car wreck left him with a broken neck, and doctors told the Pazmanian Devil he might never walk again. But a little more than a year later, he was back in the ring, and he won his comeback fight.
Younger and De Luca are repped by CAA, which brokered the deal, arranged the financing and reps the film’s distribution rights.
