The already packed 2016 installment of Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights is adding traumatic childhood fears to the mix courtesy of Eli Roth, who will be taking control of the annual event’s Terror Tram for an original story about a posse of serial killer clowns. Eli Roth Presents Terror Tram will tell the story of Harold Kappowitz, a once-jovial entertainer performing as “Koodles the Clown” who rose from circus act to the beloved host of a children’s show. By the 1990s however, his career hit the skids and Harold, exiled and reclusive, hid from society at Universal Studios, emerging years later as “Hollywood Harry,” a notorious serial killing clown. Eventually recruiting other former clowns, the group took revenge on an industry that abandoned them, killing Studio Tour guides and guests alike.
As part of the attraction, Roth’s digital horror network Crypt TV has created a series of short form videos teasing the Hollywood Harry mythology, one of which you can watch above. During the ride, guests will be able to walk along a portion of the film and TV studio tour sets. Along with Terror Tram, the 2016 Halloween Horror Nights will also include: three new American Horror Story-inspired events presented as one experience; an attraction inspired by The Exorcist; “Hell Comes to Haddonfield”, featuring an all-star line-up of slasher villains including Michael Myers, Freddy vs. Jason, and Leatherface; an attraction based on the holidays-themed horror film Krampus; the debut of the brand new year-round The Walking Dead attraction; an all-new Jabbawockeez live show; and scare zones featuring The Purge. Halloween Horror Nights begins Friday, September 16, 2016 and runs on select nights through October 31.
Felt Films has announced a new digital series, Dark/Web, is in the works from the creators of the cult horror film Circle. The sci-fi horror anthology series is framed by the story a group of young adults living in a technologically connected near future in which everything, and every one, is online. When three of them become the target of cryptic emails from someone posing as their childhood friend Molly, they assume she’s been the victim of a hack, only to learn she’s been missing for months. Combining the anthology format with an overarching mystery, as the emails pile up, each one contains a tale ostensibly written by Molly, and clues are uncovered that may lead to her location.
Starring Nicholas Brendon (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Brian Elerding, Lana McKissack, Sibongile Mlambo, Michael Nardelli, Rene Heger, Noemi Gonzalez, and Siobhan Fallon Hogan, each episode of Dark/Web will consist of a portion of the serialized tale and a stand-alone science fiction or horror short centered around technological themes. Roxy Shih will direct the serialized segments of the series, with the stand-alone segments to be written and directed by different filmmakers, including Zelda Williams & Producer Joshua Thurston, Boman Modine , Mario Miscione, and Michael Nardelli.. Autumn Federici is producing along with Miscione and Tim Nardelli .
