Suicide Squad director David Ayers took to Twitter to defend the film following some disappointing reviews. Just 34% of critics deemed it positive on Rotten Tomatoes, aside from Margot Robbie’s praised turn as Harley Quinn. Ayers expressed his thoughts with a quote attributed to the Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata.

His defense of the film came hours after he apologized for voicing a quick, four-letter outburst targeted at DC Comics’ arch-rival Marvel Comics at the pic’s New York premiere. The director was responding to and repeated a comment shouted out at him from the crowd.
