In addition, the expanded agreement gives the streaming service SVOD rights to WGN America’s drama series Underground and Outsiders. Past episodes of the series are available to stream on Hulu now, and future seasons will become available eight days following their season finales.
The final season of Community, which ran on Yahoo Screen, revolves around Jeff Winger (Joel McHale) and the remaining members of the Save Greendale Committee as they enter their sixth year together, under the watchful eye of Dean Pelton’s (Jim Rash) new management consultant, Frankie Dart (Paget Brewster). Created by Dan Harmon, the series also stars Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Ken Jeong and Keith David.
In addition to Community, the complete library of Emmy-nominated Rescue Me will be available to Hulu subscribers this month for the first time.
Underground, from creators and executive producers Misha Green and Joe Pokaski and EP and Oscar winner John Legend, tells the unflinching story of a group of courageous men and women who band together for the fight of their lives – for their families, their future and their freedom.
Outsiders, which is in production for its second season, explores an epic battle between the Farrell clan and their fight to defend their Appalachian land and way of life from the town below and anyone who would dare challenge them. Outsiders is created and written by award-winning playwright Peter Mattei, who executives produces alongside Fedora Entertainment’s Peter Tolan, Touchy Feely Films’ Paul Giamatti, Michael Wimer and Dan Carey.
The new deals join titles that fall under Hulu and Sony’s library deal that includes all episodes of Happy Endings, The Shield, Party of Five, Dawson’s Creek, Damages and such films as Jerry Maguire, Midnight in Paris and My Best Friend’s Wedding.
