BREAKING: Fox Searchlight Pictures has just promoted DanTram Nguyen to Senior VP Production and Katie Goodson-Thomas to VP Production and Acquisitions UK. The moves come as word comes that Paul Hanneman, Fox’s worldwide president of marketing and distribution, is exiting the studio.
Hanneman and Tomas Jegeus were upped in 2013 to co-presidents of Worldwide Theatrical Marketing & Distribution but served as co-presidents of 20th Century Fox International from 2005 forward. Today’s move comes after a re-organization of the Fox studio where Stacey Snider stepped in to replace chairman Jim Gianopulos (who had hand-picked the two executives for promotion into the slot). Jegeus moved over to president of Fox international productions last August. Right now, it’s understood that Snider has interviewed others for the post. One possibility is for Bryan Song, who is in sales and strategic planning to be promoted, but nothing has been decided as yet.
At Fox Searchlight, Nguyen joined the label in 2009 as a creative executive and worked on such films as The Descendants, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and Black Swan. She is currently working on Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape Of Water and most recently Battle Of The Sexes, Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris’ film about the rivalry between tennis greats Bobbie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. Nguyen started her career as a junior executive for Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner’s production company.
Goodson-Thomas most recently worked on Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, My Cousin Rachel and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. She is in pre-production on the Untitled A.A. Milne film. Before joining Fox Searchligh, she held senior production roles at Unanimous Pictures and Origin Pictures.
The pair will report to Searchlight’s co-heads of Production Matthew Greenfield and David Greenbaum.
