Singer Chris Brown was arrested late this afternoon in Tarzana, CA, and will be booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. The arrest comes after a long stand-off with police where the singer holed up inside his mansion while taking to Instagram in a rambling, profanity-laced denunciation of the police, protesting his innocence – and to promote his latest music video.

The singer is in custody and being transported to the Men’s Central Jail in downtown Los Angeles.

The arrest comes after detectives from the LAPD robbery-homicide special division obtained a search warrant and interviewed witnesses at Brown’s home after he allegedly pointed a gun at a female visitor and threatened her. Brown’s attorney Mark Geragos eventually came to the house to help in the negotiations.

Responding to the woman’s 911 call for help, police arrived at the home early Tuesday and were told they’d have to come back with a search warrant. Eventually, several people exited the home with their hands over their heads. In the meantime, Brown continued his social media postings that began when helicopters began hovering over the residence early in the morning.

“Have you seen my house? Yes, I’m gonna barricade myself in a palace. I’m not coming out. For what? I ain’t did sh*t,” he said in one of his Instagram posts.

He then plugged his latest music video. “And while we on our promo kick, let me not forget to say, go stream, download, buy ‘Grass Ain’t Greener’ video out. Ironic how I put a crazy video out, right? And then you got a bullsh*t-ass story.”
