Stephen Colbert’s live broadcast of The Late Show on RNC Night 1 ranked No. 1 in its timeslot in the country’s 56 overnight metered markets. The Late Show’s 2.1/6 household rating marks a 24% spike from same night last week, and the show’s best overnight household rating since May 10, the early stats show.
Colbert’s former Comedy Central colleague (and current Late Show EP) Jon Stewart made a cameo in last night’s live broadcast, and Colbert exhumed his The Colbert Report gasbag character.
In the demo, Colbert’s show averaged 0.5/03 – the struggling show’s best rating in the 25 local people meter markets since February 15. That said, his 0.5 tied Jimmy Kimmel Live’s 0.5 for ABC and fell behind Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show 0.8 on NBC.
