Sarah Geismer is on the move but staying in the family. The exec is segueing from Fox 21 TV Studios to 20th Century Fox Television as VP Comedy Development. She starts the new gig Monday, reporting to Cheryl Dolins, who was named SVP Comedy Development last week.
Geismer has spent the past seven years at the studio’s cable production arm. She began as an assistant and was promoted to the executive ranks by then-FTVS President David Madden and continued under Fox 21 Television Studios President Bert Salke when the companies merged. She has overseen a mix of comedy and drama projects including Maron, Sirens, The Comedians, Complications, Burn Notice, Graceland, Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll, Showtime’s Untitled Lena Waithe Project and Fox’s upcoming take on The Rocky Horror Picture Show. She began her career as an associate producer for the MTV docuseries True Life.
“Sarah is a fantastic executive who is beloved both within the company and the community, so we couldn’t be happier to have her join our team at 20th,” said EVP Development Michael Thorn, who announced the move. “She’s a smart, talented developer with great taste and creative judgement, and the perfect addition to our already formidable ranks. We owe Bert Salke a significant debt of gratitude for blessing the transition. He’s been incredibly generous.”
