EXCLUSIVE: Chris Albrecht’s power play of moving Power to Sunday night for its third season seems to have paid off. The Starz drama executive produced by 50 Cent and Courtney Kemp pulled in 2.26 million viewers last night with its Season 3 debut. That scores not only the premium cabler’s best original series season debut numbers yet but also becomes the most-watched episode of any Starz original ever.
The previous season debut high was held by the April 9 premiere of Season 2 of Outlander, which drew 1.46 million viewers. Last night’s Power topped that by 55% in viewers. Based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling novels, Outlander‘s second cycle was just barely ahead of the Season 2 launch of Power in last year; Sunday’s premiere grew 58% from that 2015 result, and 209% from its Season 1 opener (previously Starz’s season-debut high with 1.43 million viewers for its first-run airing).
Over the initial 9 PM ET airing and two replays, Sunday’s Power snared 3.37 million viewers — also the most ever for a Starz original on its opening night.
Both Outlander and Power, long Starz’s most overall watched series, had their previous seasons open on Saturdays. In a case of Power on Power action, the Season 3 debut was up 47% from the strong August 15, 2015 Season 2 finale of the series. Starz announced on May 25 that it was moving the Power Season 3 and the Season 3 of Survivor’s Remorse to Sundays and in direct competition with cable heavyweights on HBO and Showtime.
The LeBron James-produced Survivor’s Remorse premieres on July 24.

Good for them. This show is really good.
Very good. Show. Enjoyed it last night
This series is by far one of the most entertaining series that is out. I’m a huge fan and wish the show all the success in the world.#Power #Fan
Thought he was gone BUT….GHOST IS BACK😘
Its a very well written, acted and produced quality television show, i hope it around for a while.
50 is winning again with this one
Great Show!!!. Keep-up the awesome work.
Holly is working for Lobos. Lobos is going after Ghost full throttle. Stern wants his clubs back and begins to use Josh again however, Ghost is a quick study and is a step ahead of Stern, fires Josh. Tommy and Ghost will talk but Tommy is power drunk and do not want to give up his number one spot plus having Holly in his ear. Therefore, still a rift between Ghost and Tommy. As much as Ghost wants to get out of the game, it continues to draw him back in. Angela and Tasha will confront one another, Tasha underestimates Angela. Kanan was craving revenge on Ghost before now he has this monkey on his back so strong like an addiction. Dre is going to end up dead, because he is in the middle of Ghost and Kanan. Greg is determined to prove he is innocent/not a liar, will continue to come for Ghost and Angela with everything he has. Sandoval will be another casualty such as Dre then Saxe, will become Angelas’ new boss.
Great prediction
Great! Now give us more than 10 episodes next season!
Power is so much better then Empire….love it
That should not be a comparison. They’re on different ends of the spectrum. Both shows are must sees.
I agred
I am so very proud of 50. He is such a very good businessman. Much more success to you 50 and the entire team of Power
Props to everyone here for the respecting the quality and success of POWER. I came in here expecting a bunch sideways & racist jabs at the show & 50 Cent but I’m happily surprised I’m wrong.
Lionsgate & Starz are going to have to kick in some shares & stock options to 50 and G-Unit TV for for POWER since it’s the most successful show on the channel and likely the main reason for the $4 billion acquisiton of Starz. Check the facts, stats don’t lie.
Get rich or die trying…
Power is good but ghost, James should not get a divorce & get back with his children mother like a family supports to be i like power but when i see a broken home or family it turns me off. so make it happen that ghost, James get back with his Family.
But don’t tv/shows/scripts imitate life? I know we all have our likes and dislikes, however such is life. He (Jamie/James/Ghost) do not need to be in a relationship with anyone be it Tasha/Angela where he is miserable. That would not make for a happy home.
