Hunters, the Syfy series executive produced by The Walking Dead‘s Gale Anne Hurd, has been canceled after a single season. The finale of the 13-episode season will air Monday night.

The series, based on Whitley Strieber’s bestselling 2013 novel Alien Hunter, premiered April 11 and starred Nathan Phillips, Britne Oldford and Julian McMahon. Written by Natalie Chaidez (Heroes), the harsh series chronicled the disappearance of a decorated Philadelphia cop’s wife, which leads him to a secret government unit assembled to hunt a group of ruthless terrorists — shadowy figures that may or may not be from this world.

Universal Cable Productions and Hurd’s Valhalla Entertainment were the producers.

Hunters was part of a new wave of series that landed on Syfy’s original scripted slate following a network course correction two years ago. Fellow freshman drama The Magicians was renewed for Season 2 three episodes into its run, as was The Expanse, which had its order increased for Season 2 from 10 episodes to 13. Syfy also has renewed 12 Monkeys for a third season. All will air in 2017.
