Two-time Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon is shuffling over to Hamilton from his current role in Shuffle Along to take on the role of Aaron Burr, and Lexi Lawson (In The Heights) is joining the company as Eliza Hamilton. They will be replacing Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo who previously announced they’d be exiting, along with Lin-Manuel Miranda, on July 9.

Dixon received a Tony nomination last season for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for Shuffle Along and was previously nominated for Best Featured Actor for the original production of The Color Purple. He also appeared on Broadway in Motown: The Musical and off-Broadway and the West End in The Scottsboro Boys. Lawson played the leading role of Vanessa in the first national tour of Miranda’s Tony-winning musical In the Heights.

Directed by Thomas Kail and featuring a book, music and lyrics by Miranda, phenom Hamilton is coming off its recent win of 11 Tony Awards. The cast also includes Christopher Jackson as George Washington, Rory O’Malley as King George, Anthony Ramos as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Tony winner Daveed Diggs as Marquis De Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler.
