Fox News Channel commanded the largest cable TV audience on Night 1 of the RNC in Cleveland. FNC delivered 5.5 million viewers primetime viewers – 1.3 million of them in the key adult 25-54 news demo.

At 10 PM ET, during which Melanie Trump delivered what became a controversial keynote speech and the broadcast networks also devoted their airwaves to the RNC, FNC’s Bret Baier and Megyn Kelly-anchored coverage averaged a timeslot dominating 6.4 million viewers. Of that crowd, 1.6M fell in the key demo. NBC News fell behind FNC in overall audience, with its 4M viewers overall, but edged out FNC in the news demo with its 1.64M.

In primetime, FNC was followed by CNN’s 3.6M viewers, including 1.2M in the news demo; MSNBC averaged 1.9M viewers, with 469K in the demo.

In the 10 PM hour, FNC’s numbers blasted past CNN’s 3.9M and 1.4M news demo viewers and MSNBC’s 2M viewers and 503K news demo viewers. In broadcast TV, NBC averaged 4 M viewers. CNN, as well as FNC, bested ABC’s 3.5M viewers with 1.3M news-demo viewers, and CBS’s 2.6M, including 785K news-demo viewers.
