Comedy Central has promoted Monika Zielinska to Senior Vice President, Original Programming and Development, West Coast. In her elevated role, Zielinska will continuue to identify and develop talent for all West Coast-based Comedy Central original series and pilots, reporting to Jim Sharp, EVP, Original Programming and Development.

Zielinska has worked her way up the ranks since joining Comedy Central in 2002, becoming Vice President in 2013. She serves as the network’s Executive in Charge of Production for several hit series including Another Period, which was recently renewed for a third season; Idiotsitter, which recently was renewed for a second season and the animated TripTank. She also oversees development on the upcoming animated series Legends of Chamberlain Heights premiering this fall, Jeff and Some Aliens, and the upcoming scripted series, Detroiters.

Zielinska is currently developing Problematic with Moshe Kasher, a pilot hosted by Kasher, and Do You Want to See a Dead Body, a pilot starring Rob Huebel based on the Funny or Die shorts.

“There are so many things I could ridicule Monika for, except none of them would be true,” said Alterman.
