UPDATE, 10:07 AM: Fox just announced it will re-air last night’s Season 11 finale of Bones that was partially pre-empted because of the RNC coverage. Here is the network’s statement:

“Due to an over-run in coverage of the Republican National Convention, a portion of last night’s season finale of Bones was pre-empted on the West Coast. We will re-air the finale next Friday, July 29, at 8:00pm ET/PT on Fox. The episode also is currently available on Fox.com, Fox Now app, Hulu and Fox on Demand. We apologize to our viewers for this inconvenience.”

PREVIOUS, 7:04 AM: There are a lot of unhappy Bones fans this morning. Fox joined the Season 11 finale two-thirds of the way in last night on the West Coast and other Mountain and Pacific markets after the conclusion of Donald Trump’s unexpectedly long acceptance speech for the Republican presidential nomination.

When viewers discovered they’d missed the first 40 minutes of the season-ender, Twitter erupted with outrage. Dozens wondered why the finale wasn’t scheduled around the convention speech. Series lead Emily Deschanel chimed in as well (see her tweets below).

Trump’s speech set a record for length, coming in at 76 minutes, the longest in four decades and as long as Mitt Romney and Barack Obama’s speeches combined in 2012.

Deadline has reached out to Fox to see if the finale will be re-aired. Stay tuned.
