Hulu has acquired exclusive SVOD rights to the first five seasons of truTV’s popular variety sketch series Funny or Die-produced Billy on the Street. This marks the first truTV series licensed to Hulu and builds on Hulu’s 2015 licensing deal with Turner.
Beginning July 10, all 42 episodes from the first four seasons of Billy on the Street will be available to stream on Hulu. All episodes of Season 5 will be available next year following its debut and full season run on truTV. Season 5 is currently in production and slated to debut on truTV this fall.
“As an incredibly popular and creatively-inventive show in truTV’s portfolio, Billy on the Street has cultivated a passionate fan base that actively seeks out the show and embraces Billy’s unique comedic talent and obsession with pop culture,” said Chris Linn, president of truTV. “This partnership with Hulu gives us a great opportunity to both super-serve those existing fans and also introduce the show and our network to new audiences.”
Billy on the Street follows unfiltered and unapologetic comedian Billy Eichner as he hits the streets of New York City to test unsuspecting passersby. In the show’s recently-wrapped fourth season, Billy was joined by celebrities including Chris Pratt, Tina Fey, Will Ferrell, Anna Kendrick, Sarah Jessica Parker and Julianne Moore. The series is executive-produced by Funny or Die CEO Mike Farah, along with Eichner, Anna Wenger and Doug Brady.
Eichner also stars in Hulu original series Difficult People, which will debut its second season on Hulu on July 12.
