In this new trailer for Relativity Studios’ chiller Before I Wake, little Jacob Tremblay, star of the Best Picture Oscar nominee Room, gets another shot at the dream, or in this case the nightmare. He plays Cody, a sweet little boy with a well-earned fear of falling asleep: Whenever he does, his dreams — and his nightmares — have a habit of coming to life. Starring Kate Bosworth and Thomas Jane as the boy’s new foster parents, Before I Wake is directed by Mike Flanagan, from his screenplay with Jeff Howard. The supernatural thriller also stars Dash Mihok and Annabeth Gish and is set for a September 9 theatrical release.
Before I Wake is the first of four Relativity films set for release since the company emerged from Chapter 11. It initially was scheduled for last year and now will go compete in a crowded post-Labor Day against Warner Bros’ Clint Eastwood-Tom Hannks movie Sully, Lionsgate’s animated pic The Wild Life and Screen Gems’ When the Bough Breaks.
The trailer makes good use of Tremblay’s adorableness: The kid looks like he couldn’t harm even the weird, glowing butterflies that fill the house whenever he dozes off.
Before I Wake is produced by Trevor Macy, Sam Englebardt and William D. Johnson, with exec producers Dale Johnson, David Greathouse, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley, D. Scott Lumpkin and Mali Elfman. Check out the trailer above and tell us what you think.
