Starz has a few big changes in its C-suite today: Jeffrey Hirsch was just named COO, a little less than a year after he moved from Time Warner Cable to become President of Global Marketing and Product Planning. In addition, David Weil was promoted to Chief Legal Officer from General Counsel.
Both will report to CEO Chris Albrecht.
Hirsch will oversee Affiliate Sales, Marketing, Programming Operations and Research, Starz Distribution, and Technology and Product Development. Over the last year he helped to drive the new Starz app, as well as the rebranding of the Starz network and repositioning of the Starz Encore services.
“We are transforming Starz into a more innovative global entertainment brand,” Albrecht says. “Jeff’s talent and experience will help us accelerate the transformation that began five years ago.”
Weil came to Starz about two years ago after serving for 10 years as CEO of Walden Media/Bristol Bay Productions and, before that, as a partner at O’Melveny & Myers focusing on the creation, operation and financing of entertainment and media companies.
