With The Grinder resting for good — but what it if isn’t? — Rob Lowe has some time on his hands. After the Comedy Central roasters get through with him, he might wish he didn’t. The veteran actor is set as the next victim on the cable net’s not-for-the-thin-skinned circuit.
Lowe, whose roast will premiere this summer, starred with Fred Savage on Fox comedy The Grinder this past season, and he voices Simba on Disney Channel’s new toon series The Lion Guard. His recent TV credits also include You, Me and the Apocalypse. Parks and Recreation and Moonbeam City. Comedy Central’s most recent roastees were Justin Bieber, James Franco and Roseanne Barr.
“What a thrill to once again be following in Justin Bieber’s footsteps,” Lowe said in a statement. “I look forward to a night of hilarious jokes recycled from the James Franco Roast. I would like to express my gratitude to the members of my family who have passed away and therefore will not have to endure what promises to be a very special evening.”
Comedy Central President Kent Alterman weighed in, natch, saying: “Rob Lowe is handsome, talented, successful and handsome. He needs to be roasted.”
