“He has offered,” Patrick Stewart says of Piers Morgan appearing on Starz’s Blunt Talk. “One morning at breakfast in a Beverly Hills hotel, I suddenly heard this voice say, ‘What the hell is going on, you’re playing me,” the X-Men and Star Trek alum recalled of meeting Morgan, the former CNN host and fellow Brit. “A raised tone across this rather conservative breakfast room.”

The man who plays cable host Walter Blunt on the Starz satire series was joined onstage at Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys all-day event at the DGA Theater by show creator Jonathan Ames. The biting 10-episode first season of Blunt Talk debuted on TV on August 22 last year and concluded on October 24, 2015. A second 10-episode is expected to premiere later this year on the premium cabler with a potential Morgan appearance – “should the opportunity arise,” according to Stewart.

With Seth MacFarlane — who Stewart has worked with before on Family Guy and American Dad — as one of Blunt Talk’s EPs, the show also stars Jacki Weaver as Walter’s longtime producer and The King’s Speech alum Adrian Scarborough as the host’s long-suffering man servant among others. “As for the ensemble, it’s kind of like a family with Walter as the father,” Ames said.
