EXCLUSIVE: Oscar winner Mo’Nique has inked with ICM Partners. She scored a Supporting Actress Academy Award and Golden Globe as the abusive mother of Gabourey Sidibe’s title character in the 2009 indie Precious and earned Emmy and Globe noms for last year’s HGO miniseries Bessie, playing blues legend Ma Rainey opposite Queen Latifah. She also has hosted more than 300 episodes of her BET program The Mo’Nique Show.
A veteran stand-up comic, Mo’Nique toured with the original Queens of Comedy and was featured in the 2001 concert film. That gig led to her becoming the first female comic to host It’s Showtime at the Apollo. She also has penned two books — Skinny Women Are Evil: Notes of a Big Girl in a Small-Minded World and Skinny Cooks Can’t Be Trusted –– and is working on a third.
Mo’Nique is managed by Sydney Hicks, with whom she has formed production company Hicks Media Productions. Their attorney is Ricky Anderson.
