Comedy Central has renewed scripted comedy series Idiotsitter for a 10-episode second season to air in 2017.

Created, executive produced and co-starring Jillian Bell and Charlotte Newhouse, Idiotsitter is the second short-form series produced for cc.com to make the transition from digital platforms to a linear series for Comedy Central, following This Is Not Happening, which recently was renewed for a third season on the TV network.

“I don’t know what it is about that title, but it just resonates for me…” said Comedy Central president Kent Alterman.

Idiotsitter, executive produced by Pam Kohl, Amy Slomovits, Dave Becky, Brady McKay and John Levenstein, had a modest debut in January with a 0.27 adults 18-49 rating and 479,000 total viewers behind Workaholics.

The first season of Idiotsitter followed Billie (Newhouse), a cash-strapped, straight and narrow Ivy League grad, who reluctantly answered a babysitting ad to make ends meet, only to find out what is actually needed is a court-appointed guardian for Gene (Bell), an heiress under house arrest in her daddy’s mansion. The finale saw Gene receiving her GED and she and Billie in handcuffs. The duo will be moving on to their next adventure, a college campus, in season two.

“We’re so excited to get to do this again,” said Bell and Newhouse. “It’s literally the most fun we’ve ever had in our lives. Hopefully the new college atmosphere will broaden our minds and teach us how to butt chug.”
