Britt Robertson is set for the lead in Girlboss, Netflix’s 13-episode comedy series inspired by Sophia Amoruso’s popular autobiography.
Written/executive produced by Pitch Perfect scribe Kay Cannon and to be directed by Christian Ditter, Girlboss hails from Charlize Theron’s Denver & Delilah production company. It centers on Sophia (Robertson), a rebellious, broke anarchist who refuses to grow up. She stumbles upon her passion of selling vintage clothes online and becomes an unlikely businesswoman. As she builds her retail fashion empire, she realizes the value and the difficulty of being the boss of her own life.
Cannon, who serves as showrunner, executive produces alongside Theron and Laverne McKinnon of D&D as well as Ditter and Amoruso. Filming starts this month with Netflix producing.
Robertson, who previously toplined the CW series Life Unexpected and The Secret Circle, starred in the features Tomorrowland and The Longest Ride last year. She has three features coming up, STX’s The Space Between Us, Mr. Church and DreamWorks’ A Dog’s Purpose.
Robertson is repped by Innovative Artists.

Britt Robertson as an “anarchist” ? hahahah
Another white lead. When will Hollywood learn…
So whites should never be cast in lead roles anymore? Ridiculous and obviously racist.
That’s because the real Sophia is white! My daughter Carrie loves this book. Excited for the program.
You know what you should do my friend. Spend the better part of a decade of your youth educating yourself and practicing the craft of story telling. Then go through hell to work your way up from a nobody to a writer and showrunner, requiring countless nights spent sweating and bleeding. Then finally, fight tooth and nail for your chance to produce your own series. AND THEN, you can cast who YOU want to cast.
But until that happens… Just keeping whining about how “hollywood” doesn’t cast the people — or in your case race — that you want. Because we all know that route is much easier.
It’s based on a true story. She was white. Just sayin’
Who?
Love her! A wonderful actress, and such a nice person, happy for her!
Couldn’t have made a more boring choice
have you seen her work?????
Different Anonymous, but I have. Pretty but bland. I’m not excited about this.
I don’t know why Hollywood trying to make Robertson happen. Everything this girl touches flops.
Britt is a phenomenal actress and an even more phenomenal person. She’s worked hard to get where she is. No one has earned or deserves success more than she does. Negative commenters are probably jealous. Just sayin’…..
She’s got no depth. Just sayin’
