Gravitas Ventures has landed North American and Latin American rights to Billionaire Ransom, a thriller starring Jeremy Sumpter, Sebastian Koch, Phoebe Tonkin, Elliot Knight, Dominic Sherwood and Ed Westwick. An August 19 theatrical and VOD release in the U.S. and Canada is planned. Jim Gillespie (I Know What You Did Last Summer) directed the script from Alexander Ignon (Ransom), which centers on a group of spoiled rich kids at a tough-love brat camp in the Scottish wilderness who have to grow up fast to battle kidnappers. Ed Elbert and Sarah Ryan Black produced and executive producers are Steve Christian, Ivan Dunleavy, Stefan Brunner and Jamie Brown. The pic was sold by Radiant Films International.

An Art That Nature Makes

BOND/360 has acquired worldwide rights to An Art That Nature Makes, a documentary from Molly Bernstein (Deceptive Practice: The Mysteries And Mentors Of Ricky Jay) that charts the career of Rosamond Purcell, the Boston-based photographer of natural and found objects. A theatrical release will kick off August 10 at NYC’s Film Forum followed by a Los Angeles opening September 2; the screenings will include an exhibit of Purcell’s photographs. The documentary first premiered at DOC NYC.
