Six weeks into its freshman run, Hulu’s The Path has been renewed for a second season. The streaming service is expected to announce the pickup at its upfront presentation in New York this morning. The Path, starring Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan and Hugh Dancy, is Hulu’s first ongoing original series. It has been renewed after launching to strong reviews from critics.

Created by Jessica Goldberg, The Path comes from Hulu sibling Universal Television and Jason Katims’ True Jack Prods. Hulu large logoGoldberg executive produces with True Jack’s Katims and Michelle Lee. The series follows a family at the center of a controversial cult as they struggle with relationships, faith and power. Episode 7 is being released today, with the season finale slated for May 25 when all episodes from the first season will be available to stream on Hulu.

The Path will be joined by Hulu’s upcoming drama series Shut Eye starring Jeffrey Donovan, Chance starring Hugh Laurie, and The Handmaid’s Tale starring Elisabeth Moss.
