STX Entertainment is boarding Amazon Studios’ untitled action comedy from Nash Edgerton which is now in production in Mexico City. STX will co-release the title domestically with Amazon and handle international sales here in Cannes.

Thandie Newton Nash EdgertonDavid Oyelowo stars with Joel Edgerton, Amanda Seyfried, Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton, Yul Vazquez and Sharlto Copley. The story follows mild-mannered businessman Harold Soyinka (Oyelowo), who has a new wife and a stake in a pharmaceutical company about to go public. He seemingly has the American Dream in his grasp — until everything goes wrong. Stranded south of the border, with a price on his head, Harold discovers that the life he had never really existed in the first place.

Witten by Anthony Tambakis and Matt Stone, the film is produced by Amazon Studios, Edgerton, Rebecca Yeldham, Tambakis, AJ Dix and Beth Kono, and executive produced by Trish Hofmann. Edgerton made his feature directorial debut with acclaimed Aussie thriller The Square, and previously directed the shorts Spider and Bear.

At CinemaCon, Amazon marketing and distribution chief Bob Berney include the title in the studio’s presentation, however, it was titled then as American Express.
