Discovery Communications has promoted Robert Scanlon to EVP and General Manager of Velocity and Automotive Content. He will lead the programming, development, production, marketing and communications for Velocity and is charged with developing automotive content globally for Discovery Communications. Scanlon will continue reporting to Marjorie Kaplan, President of Content for Discovery Networks International.

Richard ScanlonScanlon had been GM of Velocity and Automotive Content. Before Velocity, which launched in 2011, he was a VP in the Discovery Communications Emerging Networks Group, where his responsibilities included program development and production for Military Channel and HD Theater. Earlier in his career, Scanlon worked for the NFL, ESPN and ABC Sports.
