Season 3 of Peaky Blinders debuts May 31 on Netflix with all six episodes becoming available at just after midnight. Today, the streaming service dropped a new trailer for the third go-round of the epic crime saga created by Steven Knight and starring Cillian Murphy.

The season already is up and running on BBC Two in the UK, where it premiered May 5. Praise has been high for the return of the series that has a rabid worldwide fan base. The trailer teases what’s to come for Murphy’s Tommy Shelby as he struggles to respond to overwhelming internal and external forces — a response that will define the kind of man he really is.

Tom Hardy is due to return “with a bang” in the second half of the season, Knight has told me. Paddy Considine is joining the series as “the most evil character that Peaky Blinders has ever seen,” again per Knight. Both are spotted in the trailer, which also includes a lighter moment near the end as Tommy admonishes his crew there will be no fighting on his wedding day.

Here’s how the season is set up: Now a wealthy man, Tommy inhabits a Roaring Twenties world of beautiful people and sumptuous mansions. He’s also getting married. The third season kicks off on his wedding day when he is also approached by a secret organization, placing him at the center of an international arms deal that could change the course of history. He will contend with a White Russian exile whose brutality knows no bounds, a priest with a killer dog, a beautiful Duchess even more manipulative than he, and a powerful entity at the heart of the British establishment that will stop at nothing to accomplish its reactionary aims. Meanwhile, Tommy’s relatives have become increasingly difficult to handle, and threaten to blow the Shelby family apart.

Helen McCrory, Paul Anderson, Sophie Rundle and Joe and Finn Cole are among other returning cast.

Distributed by The Weinstein Company in the U.S., Peaky Blinders is a Caryn Mandabach and Tiger Aspect production. Knight, Mandabach, Will Gould, Jamie Glazebrook, Frith Tiplady and Murphy are exec producers. Endemol Shine International has sold Peaky in 163 countries worldwide.
