Award-winning new musical Dear Evan Hansen, which world premiered at Arena Stage in Washington, DC this past summer and will wrap its New York premiere at Second Stage this Sunday, is headed to Broadway. The show will begin performances in November at a Shubert theater to-be-announced, producer Stacey Mindich said today.
With a book by Steven Levenson, score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and direction by Michael Greif, Dear Evan Hansen is coming off two 2016 Obie Awards, for Musical Theatre and for Performance; the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding New Off-Broadway Musical; and the Helen Hayes Awards for Outstanding Musical.
Scenic design is by David Korins, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Japhy Weideman, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, and projection design by Peter Nigrini. Ben Cohn is musical director and music supervisor is Alex Lacamoire. Danny Mefford is the choreographer. Complete casting and other details will be announced shortly.
