Andrew Garfield has been attached to star in Under The Silver Lake, a modern noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles that is written and to be directed by David Robert Mitchell, who is making this his follow-up to his 2015 fantasy horror pic It Follows. Michael De Luca is producing this under his Michael De Luca Productions banner, with Chris Bender and Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski also aboard as producers. Lucy Kitada is overseeing for Michael De Luca Prods.
Insiders will handle international distribution of the pic. CAA, which reps Mitchell and Garfield, packaged the project, brokered the deal with Insiders, and reps domestic rights. The project will be on offer at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, where Mitchell rose to prominence with It Follows in 2014 (Radius released the film in the U.S. in March 2015 and it grossed $14.7M). His first film, The Myth Of The American Sleepover, bowed at SXSW and in Cannes Critics’ Week.
Garfield starred in last year’s 99 Homes and is up next in Martin Scorsese’s Silence and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge.
Mitchell is also repped by Benderspink and attorney David Fox. Garfield is additionally repped by Gordon and French in the UK and attorney David Weber.
