Ambitious U.S. distrib A24 has nabbed domestic rights to David Robert Mitchell’s Under The Silver Lake, with Andrew Garfield attached to star. Deal is believed to be north of $3 million. It marks A24’s second splashy acquisition in as many days after it picked up U.S. rights to Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Killing of a Sacred Deer, which re-unites the Greek director with The Lobster star Colin Farrell.

Production on Under The Silver Lake,  a modern-day noir crime thriller set in Los Angeles, is set to start end of summer. Insiders is handling international sales. Michael De Luca is producing under his titular production banner alongside Chris Bender and Jake Weiner and Adele Romanski. CAA brokered both the domestic and international deals. Lucy Kitada is overseeing for Michael De Luca Productions.

Mitchell’s breakout feature It Follows was an indie horror hit following its premiere at Cannes in 2014. Garfield is also attached to star in Andy Serkis’ directorial effort Breathe, based on the true story of Robin, a handsome, brilliant and adventurous man whose life takes a dramatic turn when polio leaves him paralyzed. Claire Foy, who plays Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s $100 million event series The Crown, will star as Robin’s devoted and determined wife Diana.

CAA reps both Mitchell and Garfield and packaged the project. Mitchell is also repped by Benderspink and attorney David Fox. Garfield is also repped by Gordon and French and attorney David Weber.
