The feature debut of Daniel Grove, The Loner follows a reformed mobster, Behrouz, who lives haunted by memories of being a child soldier in Iran in the 1980s. Now pursuing the American Dream in Los Angeles, he finds it increasingly difficult to stay away from a life of crime he left behind. In this exclusive clip from the film, which has its world premiere today at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival, we see a drugged out, hazy moment of intimacy laced with a hint of violence.

Directed by Grove from a script he co-wrote with Reza Sixo Safai, the film stars Safai, along with Helen Mattsson, Parviz Sayyad, Julian Sands, Laura Harring and Dominic Rains. It premieres tonight at 8:15 PM at the Regal Cinemas Battery Park as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
