Sierra/Affinity will launch international sales for writer-director Andrew Niccol’s sci-fi thriller Anon at the Cannes Film Market next month. The film stars Clive Owen and Amanda Seyfried and is slated for a 2017 release.

Owen plays Sal Frieland, a detective in a world with no privacy, ignorance or anonymity where everyone’s lives are transparent, traceable and recorded by the authorities. Crime almost ceases to exist, but in trying to solve a series of unsolved murders, Frieland stumbles on a young woman known only as The Girl (Seyfried). She has no identity, no history and is invisible to the cops. Sal realizes it may not be the end of crime but the beginning.

Anon, which is set to start filming July 11, is produced by Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur at K5 Film and Gattaca filmmaker Niccol. K5 Media Group is financing. CAA, which arranged the financing, will represent the film’s domestic distribution rights.
