Studio71, the media studio and multi-channel network of the ProSiebenSat.1 Group, has signed a multi-picture distribution deal with Paramount’s Worldwide Television Licensing & Distribution and Acquisitions division for films from the studio’s stable of top digital influencers. The first project to be released under the agreement is Be Somebody, the Joshua Caldwell-helmed pic toplined by Vine star Matthew Espinosa which will hit select theaters and digital and VOD platforms June 10.
Espinosa, who has more than 17 million followers on social media and more than 1 billion loops/views on Vine, plays Jordan Jaye, a teen pop-star who, desperate for a normal life, abandons his sold-out tour and runs away to find refuge in a small town where he meet Emily, a rebellious street-artist who wants nothing to do with him.
The film also stars Sarah Jeffery (Shades Of Blue), Tava Smiley (General Hospital), Caitlin Keats (Kill Bill: Vol. 2), LaMonica Garrett (Sons Of Anarchy) and Allison Paige (Days Of Our Lives). Espinosa exec produced the pic with Caldwell, Andrew Reyes, Carrie Morrow, and Jeff Levin. Gary Binkow and Amee Dolman served as producers.
Tugg will be releasing the film theatrically.
