By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth! Marvel is giving fans their first look at Doctor Strange next week as star Benedict Cumberbatch visits Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 12 to debut the film’s first trailer. It’s part of a weeklong Marvel invasion of Kimmel as Disney corporate synergy takes over ABC’s late-night stalwart.
Jimmy Kimmel’s guests on Monday will “Team Captain America” from Marvel’s upcoming tentpole Captain America: Civil War. That faction include Chris Evans (Captain America), Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier), Anthony Mackie (Falcon) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man). Two nights later we’ll get the other side, Team Iron Man led by Robert Downey Jr. Also on the fight card are Don Cheadle (War Machine), Emily Van Camp (Agent 13, who may or may not be Team Cap), Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) and Paul Bettany (Vision). Their film attacks megaplexes on May 6.
Evans and Downey were on Kimmel in November to premiere the first Captain America: Civil War trailer.
Meanwhile, next Tuesday’s and Thursday’s Kimmel shows will feature the stars of two other Marvel stand-alone flicks. On Tuesday, Dr. Strange’s Benedict Cumberbatch will be joined by Clark Gregg, who plays Phil Coulson on the ABC series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. And on Thursday, hammer-wielder Chris Hemsworth will be on hand — his Thor: Ragnarok doesn’t hit theaters until November 2017.
