EXCLUSIVE: Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has acquired rights to The Incident, with up-and-coming Polish writer-director Jan Kwiecinski (The Fourth Dimension) helming his script. E/F/O co-CEOs Randall Emmett and George Furla will put the $15M-budget picture into production in July, with Ambyr Childers (The Master, Ray Donovan) co-starring and producing with Emmett and Furla, Andrew Corkin of Uncorked Productions, Priya Swaminathan, and Shannon Riggs. Mona Panchal and Bryan Reisberg are executive producing with Tim Sullivan and Tony Callie serving as co-producers.
The film centers on Michael, who accidentally kills a man during a brief altercation and struggles with the ramifications of his actions. Childers will play Michael’s girlfriend, Martha, who has no knowledge of the incident, and is left bewildered as her boyfriend’s behavior becomes more and more peculiar. They are courting Emile Hirsch for the male lead.
Emmett/Furla is currently in post-production on Martin Scorsese’s Silence. The company also recently wrapped principal photography on the Arnold Schwarzenegger and Scoot McNairy starrer 478, from director Elliott Lester and producer Darren Aronofsky. The Steven C. Miller-directed Bruce Willis starrer Marauders is in post-production, and the company is prepping David Mamet’s Speed The Plow with Irwin Winkler producing and Michael Polish directing.
EFO is repped by WME, Kwiecinski is repped by CAA, and Childers is repped by UTA and Luber Roklin.
