HBO has staked out summer dates for a trio of programs. Limited series The Night Of bows at 9 PM July 10, followed a week later by Season 2 of the Dwayne Johnson pro football comedy Ballers and the premiere of dark comedy Vice Principals, from the creators of the premium channel’s Eastbound & Down.

Created by Steven Zaillian and Richard Price, The Night Of is an eight-episode drama about a complex NYC murder case with cultural and political overtones. It follows the police investigation, the legal proceedings, the criminal justice system and the feral purgatory of Rikers Island, where the accused await trial for felony crimes. John Turturro and Riz Ahmed star.

Ballers Dwayne JohnsonThe 10-episode sophomore season of Ballers bows at 10 PM July 17, followed by the bow of Vice Principals at 10:30. Ballers follows former football superstar Spencer Strasmore (Johnson), who is trying to reinvent himself as a financial manager for current players in sun-soaked Miami. Rob Corrdry, Omar Benson Miller, John David Washington, Donovan Carter, Troy Garity, Jazmyn Simon and Arielle Kebble also star in the series created by Stephen Levinson.

The nine-episode Vice Principals, from creators Danny McBride and Jody Hill, vice-principalstells the story of a high school and the two people who almost run it: the vice principals (McBride and Walton Goggins). The two administrators are in an epic battle to ascend to the principal’s throne. The cast also includes Georgia King, Kimberly Hébert Gregory, Sheaun McKinney, Shea Whigham and Busy Philipps. McBride, Hill, David Gordon Green and Stephanie Laing exec produce.
