EXCLUSIVE: Lionsgate’s Boston Marathon bombing drama Stronger continues to build up its cast, with Flaked actress Frankie Shaw signing on in the role of Gail. Based on the nonfiction bestseller of the same name by Jeff Bauman and Bret Witter, the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Bauman, the working class Boston man who became the subject of a now-iconic photo after losing his legs in the attack. The story is a deeply personal account of his journey of recovery, examining his inner courage, community pride, familial bonds and an unexpected love. From Lionsgate, Mandeville Films, BOLD Films and Nine Stories, Stronger is directed by David Gordon Green and written by John Pollono.
Shaw can currently be seen in a recurring role on Will Arnett’s Netflix series Flaked, and recently wrapped a supporting role in The Masterpiece, the James Franco-directed comedic biopic from New Line about the man behind the notorious 2003 cult film The Room. Shaw is also developing an original half-hour pilot, Smilf, for Showtime. Based on her award-winning Sundance short film, Shaw wrote the pilot and will direct, star, and executive produce. She’s repped by UTA.
