The Critics’ Week sidebar of the Cannes Film Festival this afternoon unveiled its picks for the 55th running. Artistic Director Charles Tesson revealed 10 first and second features that will make up the main program, including seven in competition, out of 1,100 which were screened. France’s In Bed With Victoria by Justine Triet will open the section which will close with three short films directed by actresses Sandrine Kiberlain, Laetitia Casta and Chloe Sevigny. (See the full list below.)

kittyThere are a number of films from France, Asia and Israel in the mix. Sevigny is the only American in the bunch with Kitty which is based on a short story by Paul Bowles about a young girl who finds herself transforming into a kitten as she grows up and slips away from her family.

Opener In Bed With Victoria is the second feature from Triet who was nominated for a Best First Film César Award with 2013’s Age Of Panic. Other second-timers include Cambodia’s Davy Chou with Diamond Island. His previous film was 2011 documentary Golden Slumbers. And, Olivier Laxe with Mimosas. Laxe had a Directors’ Fortnight berth in 2010, scooping the FIPRESCI prize for drama You Are All Captains.

Jury President is Valérie Donzelli whose panel includes Alice Winocour, Nadav Lapid, David Robert Mitchell and Santiago Mitre. Together they will hand out the Grand Prix Nespresso and the Prix Révélation France 4 on the features side and the Prix Découverte Leica Cine to one of the shorts in competition.

The Critics’ Week picks continue to round out the festival whose Official Selection was unveiled last Thursday. Directors’ Fortnight will be announced tomorrow. Critics’ Week runs May 12-20. Check out the full list of films below:
