Caitlyn Jenner is joining the cast of Amazon’s Transparent, and will begin filming scenes next week, says creator and executive producer Jill Soloway. The casting was announced by Soloway in an interview with the AP at Saturday’s GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.
“We are all part of the same community,” Soloway told the AP. “A lot of the transwomen who work on our show are also in her show I am Cait,” Soloway said. “Lots of crossover. Lots of friends.” Soloway wouldn’t disclose information about Jenner’s character, who’ll appear on the upcoming third season of the streaming series.
E’s I Am Cait tied with TLC’s I Am Jazz as Outstanding Reality Program at Saturday’s GLAADs. Transparent, which stars Jeffrey Tambor as the transgender Maura Pfefferman, was named Outstanding Comedy Series.

This is odd as Soloway seems smarter than to stuntcast a brilliant show with a fame-whoring wo-man. Sad. Transparent just jumped the shark.

It’s a show that I direct people to who want more understanding of what we face as transpersons as apposed to the media circus and shallowness of Cait’s “reality” show.
This is not to judge Caitlyn as a person, I’m sure she’s lovely.

What a jump the shark move. And certainly reason enough to not watch season 3. CJ represents everything wrong with human rights, the entertainment biz and California’s highway patrol laws.
Brilliant show. Absolutely love it, but Caitlyn Jenner will keep me from watching the next season. She is the exact opposite of a role model. She is not a crusader for transgender rights, just her own. Bummer.

This is a travesty. I love Transparent but will not watch now. What a shame, the fantastic cast has just been totally marginalized and destroyed.

How does hiring someone who supports a candidate and the party that passed the H2B law in North Carolina and then posting a photo of the transparent crew declaring their support of trans rights actually… SUPPORT TRANS RIGHT?!
