2nd UPDATE 10:15 PM: It may have been President Barack Obama’s 40th Hollywood fundraiser since taking office but the soon-to-be retiring incumbent can still draw industry heavyweights. Among the crowd paying up to $66,800 per couple at the sold-out event tonight at Alan Horn and Cindy Horn’s Bel-Air home were Disney CEO Bob Iger, Gwyneth Paltrow and Julia Roberts.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and wife Katie McGrath, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, Norman Lear and Lyn Lear, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin were also co-hosts of the fundraiser.

The White House pool report said a “nearly speechless” Cindy Horn introduced the President around 9 PM by joking that “I hear you took a recent trip to Cuba” and telling him and the crowd that LA calls that the “Andy Span migration plan.” The pool report said “not sure what the name was but sounded like that” of Jeffrey Katzenberg’s political concierge Andy Spahn, who was also a co-host of tonight’s event.

“When you and the First Lady get into the presidential limousine, do you think ‘the beauty in the beast?,’” Horn also asked Obama in her remarks. “I didn’t think of that,” Obama responded, according to the pool reports. Horn said she “had to make a Disney reference” since both her Disney Studios chair husband and Iger were in attendance.

bob iger april 4, 2016It’s not a big surprise that Iger was at the Obama fundraiser at the Horns. Like the Disney Studios chair and his activist spouse, Iger was long been a supporter of the President. Besides Iger  attending past fundraisers and donating to Obama and the Democrats, POTUS has returned the favor himself so to speak. Iger and wife Willow Bay were among the head table guests at the White House dinner for Chinese President Xi Jinping last September, as Deadline exclusively reported.

No word if Obama and Iger discussed the Disney succession issue tonight but in a pretty standard fundraiser speech, the President took a whack at GOP contender Donald Trump in his remarks. “I recognize there’s a deep obsession right now about Mr. Trump,” Obama said, according the pool report. “One of you pulled me aside and squeezed me hard and said, ‘tell me that Mr. Trump is not succeeding you.’ And I said, ‘Mr Trump isn’t succeeding me.”

Obama left the Horns at around 10:12 PM and headed to his Westside hotel.

PREVIOUS, 7:38 PM: Air Force One has landed at LAX and President Barack Obama is in the helicopter on his way to a fundraiser at Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn’s Bel Air house. That means that the security dragnet has fallen over the Westside as road closures go into effect and greater than usual traffic snarls begin. (see full list of LAPD road closures below)

What’s happening on the wet roads is a repeat of sorts of what happened at LAX earlier tonight with in-coming flights delayed until Air Force 1 was on the ground and Obama was back in the air in Marine One.

With Obama staying overnight in town, the whole road traffic nightmare thing will happen again Friday morning on the Westside – so you might want to start that trip to work a bit early to avoid worse than usual traffic. After the $15,000 to $68,000 a couple Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee event at the Horns’ tonight, POTUS has his 41st Hollywood cash grab at a Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee event at Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer’s Brentwood home mid-morning tomorrow. The President flies out of LAX around 12:30 PM for more big bucks fundraisers in San Francisco.

Julia Louis-DreyfusStar Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and wife Katie McGrath, Barbra Streisand and James Brolin, Veep’s own POTUS Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, political operative Andy Spahn and wife Jennifer Perry and Norman Lear and Lyn Lear are all co-hosts of the Horns’ event.

It’s been less than two months since Obama was last in town and broke bread with the Horns – though tonight it is official. While the Disney exec and spouse held a lucrative Obama headlined fundraiser in May 2014, the couple were among those who had a private dinner with POTUS late on February 11 this year. In town for a duo of fundraisers and an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ show, Obama, as Deadline exclusively reported, had an off the book get together at his Westside hotel with the Horns, Jeffrey Katzenberg and Will Smith among others. Sources tell me that it doesn’t look like there will be such an unofficial gathering tonight.

PREVIOUS, APRIL 6 PM: If you work on the Westside, you might want to start the trip home from the office a little earlier tomorrow: President Barack Obama is back in L.A. for a duo of Hollywood fundraisers – and that means the return of Obamageddon, though a little bit less widespread than usual.

With a pricey gathering at Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn and his wife Cindy’s Westside pad on Thursday night and then a late-Friday morning shindig at Tobey Maguire and wife Jennifer Meyer’s Brentwood home, the president’s presence will see traffic snarls and road closures. Obama leaves town around 12:15 PM on Friday for more fundraisers in San Fran.

Bloomberg Breakfast - 2014 Tribeca Film FestivalAfter landing at LAX around 7:30 PM tomorrow, POTUS will immediately whip over to the home of longtime supporters the Horns for what will be his 40th trip to the Tinseltown ATM since taking office in January 2009. Raising dough for Democratic senatorial candidates, tickets for the dinner-and-more event range from $15,000 a couple to a deep-deep-pocketed $68,000 a couple for co-chairs, who get an additional VIP time with Obama.

Joining the Horns as hosts of the fundraiser are the likes of Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams and spouse Katie McGrath, Jeffrey Katzenberg’s political concierge Andy Spahn and wife Jennifer Perry, and Norman Lear and wife Lyn Lear. All have been long-term backers of Obama and have forked out big bucks repeatedly in the past. Back in October of 2015, Abrams and McGrath hosted an Obama headlined fundraisers for the Dems at their Pacific Palisades home. Spahn accompanied the president on his trip to Cuba last month.

This week’s visit is the first time the president has been back in L.A. since February 11, when he taped an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres’ daytime show over in Burbank. Of course, before jetting down to Palm Springs for a meeting with leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, Obama slipped in a couple of sold-out big-bucks fundraisers. On that occasion, the two events were co-hosted by Scorpion EP Danny Rose and husband/entertainment lawyer Aaron Rosenberg as well as HBO President of Programming Michael Lombardo and partner Sonny Ward.
